HSU

Health care professionals

0
HSU or the Health Services Union is a community that works for the well-being of workers involved in private or public health, aged care or disability services. If you are a health professional or work for ambulance service, becoming a HSU member is a smart move.

Here are some of the campaigns that HSU is actively involved in:

Aged Care
If you are an aged care worker whose agreement is set to lapse, contact HSU today. The health services union has a special campaign dedicated to aged care workers. It is actively carrying out discussions to restore the agreements for aged care staff.

Ambulance Paramedics
Ambulance Paramedics form a vital part of the healthcare system. Underfunding on part of the NSW government has had a critical effect on paramedics. Studies reflect that the number of paramedics has just not grown in the last 10 years as opposed to the increase in population. The Health Services Union has initiated a fight for the cause of ambulance staffing.

Stop Bullying
HSU’s Stop Bullying campaign is a brand new initiative to stop bullying at workplace with an awareness campaign that educates and encourages members to fight and stamp out this evil practice. Members are informed about what bullying is, how to lodge complaint against the culprit and resolve issues.

As part of the initiative, all HSU members are urged to put their signatures on a commitment pledge and put it right before them on noticeboards spread across the work area.

Parking Space Cost
This campaign is dedicated against striking rises in parking fees outside public hospitals. The HSU members are coming out in big numbers to raise their voice against abnormal charges and urge for a just and fair parking system for health professionals.

Doctor on Call
The HSU has won the campaign addressing fair payments for doctors working remotely on call. The Union has been fighting for their rights since 2008 and has finally won the battle for medical professionals whose social time or sleep is interrupted by patient calls.

As a HSU Member you are entitled to numerous benefits. Some of these include:

Journey Insurance
If you face an accident on your way to and from work, you are entitled to Journey Insurance. This provides HSU members with an income support up to 85% of their weekly pay or a maximum of 1500 dollars every week.  The insurance also covers bereavement benefits and payments for workplace injuries.

Book Vouchers
Is you are studying for a higher degree or  have dependent child who is attending school, you are entitled to participate in the HSU’s Education Incentive Scholarships that help you buy textbooks or other study items.

The HSU offers 500 education incentives of $50 each where the winners are decided by a ballot.
